Practical Diagnosis in Traditional ChineseMedicine
ProfessorTielao Deng was bornin 1916 at Kaiping county,
Guangdong, P. R. China. Born into a family ofdoctors, he
studied at the Guangdong Specialized School ofChinese
Medicine and Pharmacyfor five years. During the past50
years, he has practised medicine in Ghangzhou, Hong Kong
and Wuhan, specializing in the treatmentofcardiovascular
illness and diseases ofthe digestivesystem.
At present he is a member of the StandingCommittee ofthe
National SocietyofTCM,Assistant Directorofthe National
Society ofTCM'sCommitteeon Research and Improvement
ofChinese Medical Theory, a memberof the ChineseCouncil
on Medical History, and Professorand Vice President of the
Guanzhou College ofTCM.
Professor Deng lectured and demonstrated treatments in
Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and HongKong, and asChief
Editor/Author, he has compiled notonly thistext, but a
number ofotherimportant clinicalChinese texts and
dictionaries. He is also the firstChineseTCM expert to have
been listed in the 1989 'Who's Who in the World'.
